Understanding The Culture And Values Is Important When Seeking Jobs In Argentina

By Joseph Stevenson

Before starting their studies and settling down into a career path, many young people are keen on travel and work overseas. Many individuals look for cultural projects and jobs in Argentina that will be a source of financial support during their gap year. For those individuals choosing to live and work in a foreign country it is important to study the beliefs and cultures of that country.

One main point to be considered, is the potential for language barriers. Spanish is the main language used by many inhabitants. Other languages have often been introduced by individuals from other countries. However, long term visitors will quickly find that it is difficult to become established and find work if they cannot speak Spanish.

As with most countries, tourism can bring major financial and economic benefits to the larger cities and holiday resort areas. Although, it has resulted in a relaxation of some of the cultural practices, it is important to have an understanding of cultural background and practices. Many of which are still adhered to in the rural areas.

Family values, especially in rural areas are important. You need to know that when you meet a male, you should shake hands and give a slight nod to show respect for that person. On the other hand, if you are meeting females, the relationship would have to be well established, before you could kiss a woman in public.

The elderly are held in high regard in their communities. They are awarded the respect due to someone who has worked hard throughout their life and contributed to the community. Families tend on average to have only two children and lay great store by ensuring they receive the best education possible, until they graduate at age fifteen.

Argentina is a fascinating country with plenty to explore and offer long and short term visitors. Gap year students or anyone else seeking jobs in Argentina, will require a work visa. As the visa and work permit should be applied for by the prospective employer or university on behalf of the student, it can be a long drawn-out process.
